A COUPLE had a Christmas to remember as they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Alice and Derek Marrow, of Yew Tree Court, Walsden, were married at Todmorden Register Office on December 20, 1951.
Derek, who has lived in Walsden all his life, met Alice when she came down from the North East to visit relatives in Todmorden. They married 18 months later.
Derek worked in the transport business for most of his career, He was a driver and had his own business, Marrow Transport, based on Knowlwood Road, Shade.
He travelled all over the country delivering for Walsden Printing.
Alice worked at Mons Mill when she first came to Todmorden.
After taking a break to have children, she later took a job as a dinner lady at Castle Hill School, Todmorden, and also worked at N and R Components, off Halifax Road.
Alice and Derek have three sons, a daughter, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They are planning a holiday in the new year to mark the anniversary.
