REPRESENTATIVES of several Todmorden groups attended a reception at Highgrove House last week by Royal appointment.

Members of Todmorden in Bloom, Incredible Edible Todmorden, staff from Todmorden High School and other groups were invited to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall’s family home in Gloucestershire as guests of Prince Charles and Garden Organic.

They had a tour of the gardens and attended a champagne reception as they kept up Todmorden’s links with the Prince following his visit to the town last September.

Jean Butterworth, chairwoman of Todmorden in Bloom, said: “It was the experience of a lifetime.

“In his speech, Prince Charles said that his visit to Todmorden was one of his top ten favourite visits, so that’s quite a feather in our cap.

“It was a brilliant day. The gardens are very inspiring and it has given us a few ideas for our planting schemes.”
