A STALL holder has launched a loyalty card to celebrate national “Love your local market” fortnight.

Jeff Thomson, who runs Curried Away on Todmorden market, has decided to introduce the card to reward lovers of spicy food.

The loyalty card, one of the first from a market business, offers customers points which can be redeemed for free samosas or a free curry.

Jeff said: “Shoppers will know about loyalty cards from the big names stores, but I’m not sure they’ll expect one from a market stall.”

“Love your local market” fortnight runs throughout the country from June 23 until July 8.

The loyalty cards are available from the Curried Away stall on Todmorden outdoor market on Saturdays and Sundays until the end of the fortnight.

Jeff will also be able to give more information about the cards and the initiative.

“The fortnight follows the Mary Portas Review of town centres and the government’s response to highlight the importance of local markets,” he said.

In 2010 Curried Away, while trading at Todmorden, was named runner-up in the national “Make your mark in the markets” contest.

After a spell at Clitheroe market, the business returned to Todmorden outdoor weekend market earlier this year.
