SOME of the members of Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society who were helping to protect items from flood water and protect the historic Hippodrome Theatre as best they could.

This is the third time the Edwardian theatre has been flooded in 12 years and this week they have been presented the bittersweet play TWO.

Friday’s performance had to be abandoned just before the end of the first act at around 8.15pm on Friday night.

At this point the society’s own pumps were keeping the water clear of the boiler and the volunteers were trying to raise as much as they could above any water levels.

Steve Clarkson and David Winslow, TAODS stalwarts, said the audience had been invited back for Saturday’s performance, if circumstances allowed it to go on.
