A CALDER Valley garden is becoming home to Alice, The Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and many other of Lewis Carroll’s fantastic characters over the Easter period.

Woodleigh Hall is set in picturesque grounds next to Todmorden’s Centre Vale Park.

The family who live in the hall are all devoted Alice In Wonderland fans and have designed the garden to beautifully tell the story of Alice’s Adventures Underground.

“We are so proud of the work my dad has done to make the garden so beautiful and our Santa’s Wonderland Experience is so popular we have developed an Alice’s Wonderland Adventure so we can show of the wonderful grounds we have here,” said Katrina Heath, of StoryMagic.

During the two hour experience families can dress up as the characters, have a Mad Tea Party, play croquet on the Queen’s lawn, explore the white rabbits’ house and do a Lobster Quadrille. The story is told in a promenade fashion around the garden, using all the features that have so cleverly been created by Maurice Heath over the years.

“When my dad was a children’s entertainer - he called himself The Mad Hatter and the obsession with the Alice story continued to grow,” says Katrina, Maurice’s daughter.

“I also work as a children’s entertainer, as does my husband Paul, and this is an ideal opportunity for us to use all our skills and resources and create a fun family event over the holiday period.”

Alice’s Wonderland Experience takes place on Easter Monday and Tuesday (April 25 and 26) with sessions running from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. The event costs £10 per person. To book call 01706 810788.
