Probus club members heard tales of life on board a Rayal yacht at their latest meeting.
“Service on the Royal Yacht Britannia” was the title of the talk and slideshow given by Mr David McDonald at the August meeting of Todmorden Ladies Probus Club.
David gave a fascinating insight to life aboard as a Royal Yachtsman during the 1960s.
Britannia’s maiden voyage was in 1954. She was eventually decommissioned in 1997 after taking the Queen and other members of the royal family on hundreds of foreign visits.
Britannia is now berthed in Leith docks, Edinburgh, and is a popular tourist attraction.
