The moment it started to go - the road at Callis, Hebden Bridge, around 7.55pm on Friday night - within minutes officials from Calderdale Council and West Yorkshire Police officers were stopping traffic travelling between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge as flooding worsened rapidly in several places on Halifax Road.

A few hundred yards further towards Todmorden, a deep pool of water across the road at Eastwood meant vehicles could go no further, and later the situation worsened at Callis.
