At the latest meeting of the Hebden Royd Probus Club Mr Darren Widdup, of Todmorden, spoke of the British Legion.

He told of the founding principles of the Legion being the welfare of all service people and their dependants, and spelt out the work that goes into the annual poppy appeal and the organisation required. The vote of thanks was given by Mr Robert Huck, writes Geoffrey Greenwood.

Our next meeting at the Community Centre in Mytholmroyd will be the AGM which all members are asked to attend (November 26, 10.30am).

Then the Christmas Lunch is on Wednesday, December 10 in St Michael’s Church Hall.

The first speaker of the new year back at the Community Centre is Mr Ian Coates on January 7 at 10.30am, telling us of his adventures “On Two Wheels.” All welcome.
