A cafe is changing hands but a catering business will be continuing while the owner plans a new venture.

After three years three-rosette award-winning chef Richard Carlton is leaving the Market Hall Cafe, where from Monday, February 2, new owners Mr and Mrs Carter will be taking over.

But Richard, who trained at Halifax Catering College and whose career has taken in spells at the famous Savoy Hotel in London and a lengthy spell in the Highlands of Scotland, most notably working for Sir Iain Noble on the Isle of Skye, will still be running Carlton Catering with his wife and business partner Tiffanie.

Since returning to his home town Richard and Tiffanie have thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Market Hall Cafe in the heart of the town.

Having introduced additions to Carlton Catering’s services, including a dinner party personal chef service, they are negotiating to find the right premises for their next venture.

“I have enjoyed my three and a half years at the cafe and would like to thank all our customers, and with the new owners all the best. Carlton Catering will still be run by ourselves and we are looking forward to a new challenge which will run alongside the catering business, and which we hope to announce soon,” said Richard.
