Volunteers are meeting to create tours to tell the story of Todmorden Town Hall.

The volunteers share their existing knowledge, delve deeper into the past with research and will deliver tours based around four themes.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to share their interest in the history of Todmorden Town Hall and find out more about its past with the help of our volunteer team

The themes are: how the building came to be built; stories from the ballroom; people and politics connected with the town; and the past use of the building as a Magistrates Court.

Alongside the tours a Heritage Centre is being created and both will be launched in time for the Heritage Open Days in September.

The project, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, is bringing the stories of the building to life and the creation of a Heritage Centre will open up the building to local people and tourists.

Councillor Susan Press said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to share their interest in the history of Todmorden Town Hall and find out more about its past with the help of our volunteer team. We can’t wait for the tours to begin!”
