Lions Club members have paid tribute to a long-serving stalwart who passed away earlier this month.
Colin Poole, who was a member of Todmorden Lions Club for more than 30 years, died on October 9 after a short illness, aged 72.
Colin was president of the club in 2008-2009, and served as activities co-ordinator for many years, organising fundraising events including the duck race, the family fun day and the Santa sleigh in December.
He was a keen supporter of Todmorden Leos and also helped with the establishment of a new Lions club in the Calder Valley in the 1990s.
Rod Wainwright, of Todmorden Lions, said: “He was quite a character - engaging, cheerful and optimistic.
“He was still an active member up until he became ill.
“It was a shock to all of us. He had always been fit and active.
“He was a good Lion and a good friend.”
Colin was a member of Todmorden Harriers and served on Todmorden Town Council from 1991-1995.
His funeral was held on Tuesday.
He leaves three sons, four grandchildren and his partner Angie.
