Turning those tidy thoughts into action

CALLING all tidy-minded or green-fingered Todmordians - your town needs you!

Volunteers are wanted to join Todmorden in Bloom members on Fridays over the next month as they aim to get the town ship-shape with some tidying and planting for the Yorkshire In Bloom Spring judging which will be on the morning of April 4.

The group are all volunteers themselves but would welcome addition numbers to the ranks on Fridays March 16, 23 and 30, plus an evening session on Tuesday, April 3, for a final sweep before the big day.

Jean Butterworth of Todmorden In Bloom said the group would be meeting at County Bridge opposite the Town Hall at the top of Halifax Road at 9.30pm each Friday, with the Tuesday session starting at 6.30pm.

Even if someone could just spare an hour or two of their time, it would all help.

Jean said: “We like the place to look good, especially at this judging because it will be Easter week when we get lots of people coming to Todmorden and all eyes are on the town.

“And it gives a feelgood factor if it is your own town,” she said.
