Update: Rochdale Road re-opens after bomb scare

Have your say

ROCHDALE Road has re-opened after being closed earlier when workmen found a suspected unexploded bomb shell.

The bomd disposal squad were called to the scene and examined the device, which was found to be an already used tank shell.

Police were alerted at 12.34pm by the workmen, who were carrying out roadworks on Rochdale Road and brought a photograph of what they had found into Todmorden Police Station.

The road was shut and diversions were in place along Bacup Road until around 3.30pm.
