Heavy rain showers across West Yorkshire should continue to fade out this afternoon (Wednesday) after some parts of the county were hit by flooding.

Downpours overnight across Northern England caused difficult driving conditions and localised flooding on the roads.

Flood warnings were issued across the area but the Met Office said rain should clear this afternoon and into the evening.

Its chief forecaster said: “Rain will clear slowly from the west during the evening with all parts becoming dry overnight. Some good clear spells developing, leading to a touch of ground frost by morning.

“Thursday should see some good sunny spells and light winds, although cloudier in the afternoon with a risk of isolated showers.”
