UPPER Calder Valley people sent messages of support to prisoners of conscience during Amnesty International’s Write for Rights Day.
Visitors to Todmorden Library sat down to sign greetings cards and messages of support to more than 100 victims in numerous countries who are in prison for speaking out against political or religious oppression.
A spokesman said it had been a very successful day with many people attending.
“When we send a card to a prisoner we know that it gives them comfort and suppport.
“They feel that they are not alone.
“We do what we can for victims of injustice,” he said.
