I AM a regular user of Hebden Bridge Picture House, and for this reason and given that it is owned by Calderdale Council I consider that I have a stake in it.
I cannot be the only Todmorden resident in this position. The Picture House should rightly be regarded as an upper valley asset, unlike for instance Hebden Bridge Town Hall which has a more local relevance.
However, there is talk of the Picture House being transferred from Calderdale Council to a community group in Hebden Bridge or to Hebden Royd Town Council. I think that people throughout the upper valley should have a say in this, and the opportunity to be part of whatever community group might eventually take over the cinema.
For this reason I ask that this issue be fully reported in the Todmorden News whenever any developments occur. There has been one brief mention of the subject, but none of the detailed information that has been in the Hebden Bridge Times.
