IVOR Dibble’s marina plan appears to lack a clear direction.
There is no justification in this period of austerity to focus on the long term future, when there is a real offer of 150 sustainable jobs from a Blue Chip upmarket company. This area is likely to suffer from public cutbacks, and hence employment should be given more priority.
The current Todmorden market does not hold 150 sustainable jobs. The market does not satisfy working people’s requirements after 5pm. The market may see more business from Sainsbury’s as a result of out of town shoppers. Todmorden town council should recognise that the future is fast changing, and ensure that all future development plans recognise this. In a nutshell, a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the canal.
