In the future, local will be best

THE anti-Sainsbury brigade are rejoicing at the council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a store in Todmorden.

These people have failed to look to the future.

In a few years this country will have to fundamentally alter the way we live because we have developed our way of living around the supply of oil. The oil fields will be dying out and in time oil will be controlled by supply and price.

There will be less long-haul flights, less long distance car commuting, less out-of-town shopping. The result will be that Tod shops and market will be popular again, because they provide quality goods and a good service.

The quality of air will be better because the electric car will be the norm.
