I DISAGREE with Mr Whittaker’s view that Sainsbury’s would be the death of Todmorden, for at the moment there is nothing to bring people into the town.
I come down four times a week - whi I don’t know, because in Wednesday and Friday most of the outdoor market stalls are empty and Saturday isn’t much better. Thursday’s flea market is the busiest of the week.
Todmorden needs something new, not land that is an eyesore. If planners and Todmorden Town Council objects to Sainsbury’s, that will mean a very slow death for the outdoor and indoor market.
Another supermarket would bring people in and on to the market. It’s now 2012 not the 1930s, please move with the times.
Mr B. Cryer, Littleborough.
