Kindness in flood restored my faith in human nature

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to be marooned in Hebden Bridge during the great flood, but maybe I was more fortunate than most.

A total stranger took me under her wing and another gave me a bed for the night. If it hadn’t been for them I would have spent a miserable night in the car. Instead I had a comfortable, warm and entertaining evening.

Emergencies can certainly bring out the best in people and I will be eternally grateful to Alison and Ian for their care and generosity, which was given to a stray granny in such a matter of fact and humorous way. It restored my faith in human nature.

Ann Boswell,

Todmorden.
