I am writing regarding your article and beautiful photo, “Pupils show Hebden Bridge has gone to the dogs again” (May 18).

Kudos to Natalie Speake and Hebden Royd Town Council for creating and implementing this important project, and to all at Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue Centre for devoted and tireless work helping greyhounds transition to well-deserved new lives in loving homes.

It is heartwarming to envision the students learning the value of kindness to animals and the benefits of giving back to the community. I have found these life lessons usually remain with students who have had hands-on experiences with greyhounds in school programmes.
