Traders feel it’s an attempt to drive them out

After receiving many complaints from traders, residents and visitors about the proposed parking charges in Burnley Road car park next to Russell Dean’s, Mytholmroyd, I have to ask Calderdale Council to look at this decision again.

The strength of feeling in the village is very strongly against these charges as we are still trying to recover from the floods of last year.

The traders in Mytholmroyd are still struggling and feel the council is trying to drive them out of business by introducing parking fees.

Instead of trying to kill off Mytholmroyd shops we feel Calderdale should be doing a great deal more to keep them open by encouraging people to shop locally, and not be driven out to supermarkets with free parking.

I feel Calderdale needs to look at whether it wants its town and village centres to have a future, or just boarded up shop fronts with an air of devastation about them.
