GOOLAM Bodi has returned to South Africa leaving Todmorden to complete the Lancashire League season using deputy professionals.
Bodi (pictured) flew home last week to join the South Africa A side preparing to take on Bangladesh.

Despite scoring 634 runs at an average of 42.3 and claiming 37 wickets - in addition to scoring two 20/20 centuries - Bodi is not likely to return to Centre Vale in Todmorden colours next year.

Todmorden are far from the only Lancashire League side using stand-in paid men and on Saturday they were on the wrong end of a fine all round performance from Werner Coetsee.

The South African, currently playing for CLL strugglers Middleton, was an able replacement for Nelson's Brian McMillan at Seedhill.

He bowled unchanged, unsettling the stumps of Ben Sutcliffe in his second over and claiming the scalps of the only visiting batsmen to reach double figures - namely Jon Henderson, 24, Tom Marsh, 11, Andy Sutcliffe, 18, and Matthew Brierley, 19.

Bodi's replacement, Fleetwood's Sri Lankan Nisitha Rupasinghe, managed just three runs as Todmorden were all out for 107 from 46.4 overs. Coetsee finished 6 for 35 from 23.4 overs.

He was soon back out in the middle as Mo Bux had opener Danny Kegg caught for 0 and James Morgan weighed in with the scalp of Seam Lemon as Nelson fell to 15 for 2.

However, there was no respite as Coetsee shared a match-winning third wicket stand of 82 with David Crotty.

Rupasinghe's disappointing day continued as he bowled four overs for 31 runs and it was left to Stuart Priestley to break the partnership, dismissing Crotty for 34.

But Coetsee hit three sixes and five fours in his unbeaten 54 as Nelson sailed home in the 21st over.

It was a similarly disappointing display at Rishton the following day when Kendal's Ross McMillan was the Todmorden professional.

He took 2 for 62 as the home side scored 174 for 7 from 44 overs. Andy Bartley hit his second half century of the weekend and with Craig Smith, 63, shared a third wicket stand of 113.

Andy Sutcliffe picked up 4 for 38 from eight overs as the weather began to close in.

More rain reduced Todmorden's target to 160 from 39 overs but they were never really in the hunt as Barry Hamilton, 4 for 53, and Saeed Anwar, 3 for 41, restricted them to 139 for 9.

Andrew Sutcliffe, Danny Brown and skipper Jon Henderson all made 25 for Todmorden who continue to find runs hard to come by.
