TODMORDEN dodged the showers again this weekend, making short work of Colne on Sunday but coming unstuck at the hands of the rain adjustment calculator on Saturday.
They made short work of victory at the Horsfield on Sunday – thanks largely to the bowling of Mo Bux.
The veteran seamer engineered a collapse of monumental proportions which saw Colne plummet from 55 for 2 to 71 all out.
James Morgan weighed i
n with the vital wicket of sub-professional Mansoor Ahmed for a duck but this was the Bux show as he recorded figures of 6 for 26.
Only David Spokes, 26, and opener Ryan Proctor, 14, offered any real resistance but once Bux clean bowled them both then it was curtains for the home side as they were dismissed after 21 overs, the Emperor more than justifying the decision of his captain Jon Henderson to put Colne in after winning the toss.
Matt Walker removed opener Ben Sutcliffe with just four runs on the board and he also had professional Goolam Bodi caught for 18.
When Mansoor Ahmed trapped Andy Sutcliffe and Alistair Harrison in front in quick succession there were a few jitters with Todmorden at 45 for 4 before Tom Marsh, 17no, and Mike Brierley, 12no, saw them home after 26 overs.
It made up for the previous day when, despite an unbeaten 79 from Simon Newbitt which took him past 500 runs for the season, Todmorden were unable to beat Burnley at Centre Vale.
Having decided to bat, Burnley posted 184 from their 50 overs despite the efforts of Morgan, 3 for 78, and Bodi, 5 for 37 from 15 overs, with the ball.
Professional Jeeva Kulatunga, 43, Michael Kelly, 24, Steve Brunt, 24 and Mohammed Jamal, 22, led a solid scoreboard but Todmorden had certainly given themselves a good opportunity to pick up the points.
Ben Sutcliffe went early in the reply
Newbitt and Bodi had trouble keeping the runs ticking along, although the opener cracked 14 boundaries, he faced 106 balls in the middle.
With Bodi he shared a second wicket partnership worth exactly 100 before the professional was bowled by Tripathi for 30.
