BRIDGEHOLME'S hopes of clinching the Halifax League Division two title were dented when they suffered a surprise home defeat against Shelf on Saturday.
Bridgeholme collected only four points from the 82-run loss to extend their lead over Greetland, who had a bye, to seven points.
It is Bridgeholme's turn to sit it out on Saturday when they are without a game and Greetland can go top with success at home to Augustinians.
Andy Dimbleby hit 91 at the top of the Shelf order and Bridgeholme, who gave a poor display of bowling and fielding, were left chasing 278 for victory.
Robert Ramsden quickly removed the top three batsmen and although Mohammed Basharat continued his fine form with 57, Ramsden got another three wickets to dismiss the hosts for 195.
It wasn't all bad news for Bridgeholme though as a 13-run defeat for third-placed Halifax against Outlane meant that Keith Hudson's side are assured promotion.
