TODMORDEN Swimming Club has issued an urgent plea for helpers.
The club fears that unless they can recruit more parents or coaches then they may have to cut back on some of the training sessions.

Club spokesman Susan MacDonald said: “Some of our coaches have gone off to university and some of the parents who
helped have switched to other nights as their children have moved from swimming widths to lengths,

“We currently have over 200 children swimming with us every week but we are desperately short of poolside helpers and coaches, especially on a Friday night.

“If we cannot find help then we may have to cancel sessions.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Susan on 01706 817559.

l On Monday the club held its second gala of the season, at home to West Craven.

All swimmers did very well and, in the final analysis, the visitors ran out 63-54 winners.

Todmorden winners: Backstroke: 50 metres - Joshua Mitchell, Rebecca Sullivan, Heather Hudson. Butterfly: 25m - Megan Shackleton, Sam Thompson. 50m - Merope Griffin, Heather Hudson. Breastroke: 25m- Nicole Stiff, Sam Thompson. 50m- Daniel Thompson, Rebecca Sullivan. Front crawl: 25m - Megan Shackleton, Jack Pearson. Ladies open relay: Heather Hudson, Rebecca Sullivan, Merope Griffin, Hope Griffin.

The next gala is against Accrington on Monday, May 19.
