A NUMBER of close matches in the Todmorden Sports Centre Netball League last week saw Lions Pride and Jammy Dodgers share the spoils with an 11-all draw.
Jammies went 4-0 in the lead despite some good defending from Lions Pride but they pulled a goal back by half time. Jammies pulled ahead again, leading 7-1 at one point, before Lions, who felt they had played poorly in the first half, began finding t
he net regularly.
They pieced together some fantastic passing and good shooting and managed to claw the deficit back by the final whistle, and it was honours even.
Pink Panthers just edged their match with Jumping Jacks 13-11. An excellent game saw some good passing, both teams scoring well.
Windies had the better of a fast-paced game against Robinwood Robins, which saw even play and Windies' shooting ability giving them the advantage. Robins' played their best players and had a pretty solid defence.
Windies were a match for this, that scoring touch making the difference as they won 13-7. Both sides were pleased with the quality of their play.
A friendly but competitive game saw Rangers beat Tod Terriers 14-10. Terriers were playing players out of position and can be pleased with their performance. But Rangers' defence were on top of their work and swift centre passes on the attack allowed them to steam ahead.
Finally, leaders BRG defeated Thundercats 15-4 exhibiting some good defence. The 'Cats had more possession in the second half but were let down by some poor passing.
