FIFTY eight juniors and one senior citizen attended Todmorden Angling Society's Taster Day, which was this year held on the Rochdale Canal at Littleborough.
All tackle, baits and licences were provided along with expert angling tuition from National Federation of Anglers trained coaches.
Most fish caught were smallish roach and perch - but two pike of 2lb and 8lb were caught.

l its dedicated volunteers for organising the event.

There is an open match this Sunday (September 7) on the Rochdale Canal (Nehesco to Library sections). The draw will be made up to 8.30 am with fishing from 10 am to 4 pm. Ring 01706 650954 or 01706 374689 to book on. The entry fee is £13 all in.
l THE last Tuesday evening match of the season was fished by 17 anglers on Croft Fishery waters.
The top three anglers all made catches using a mixed bag of bait on pole and pellet, Graham Mallinson coming out on top.
Result: 1, Graham Mallinson, 29lb 5oz; 2, Craig Haworth, 13lb 10oz; 3, Stan Buckley, 12lb; 4, Bruce Clark, 10lb 5oz; 5, Dean Turner, 9lb.
The result of the Tuesday Final should be fully logged by next week's column.
- A Sunday open match was fished on the Rochdale Canal was fished by 32 entrants and won by Ray Spall. The Mack's, Burnley, angler caught nine skimmer bream on pole fished corn or meat on Copperashouse section.
Second placed Daz Shaw, on Lanebottom, caught two carp on meat while Frank Szakaley, in third, caught four bream and a chub on ledgered meat and corn on Summit section.
Result: 1, Ray Spall (Mack's, Burnley), 16lb 11oz; 2, Daz Shaw (Fox Match), 15lb 15oz; 3, Frank Szakaley (Fox Match), 15lb 7oz; 4, Dave Bradley (Fox Match), 12lb 9oz; 5, Kevin James (Tricast Rochdale), 11lb 12oz.
