WALSDEN are hoping to make it third time lucky as they bid to get their Central Lancashire League season up and running this weekend.
Following the cancellation of the opening day fixtures by the league, last Sunday’s games against Cl.ifton were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
This weekend is a double header with Royton visiting Scott Street on Saturday and then David Bla
ke’s men make the trip to perennial title chasers Rochdale on Sunday.
With it being a Bank Holiday, the third team is also in action, looking to build on its crushing win in Saturday’s opener against Middleton.
Middleton were bowled out for 63 - extras their top scorer with 16 - after winning the toss and deciding to bat. Gareth Connor led the way with four wickets.
Walsden lost four wickets in reply but an unbeaten 33 from opener Kristian Halstead (pictured)ensured that the defending champions made a winning start to the campaign.
On Monday they entertain Unsworth.
l Bodi arrives
Todmorden have named professional Goolam Bodi in the line-up for this weekend’s double header at Burnley and then at home to Ramsbottom on Sunday.
New Zealander Bruce Martin has deputised while the South African was held up on domestic 20/20 duty with his Titans side.
Todmorden will hope he can hit the ground running as their batting has looked fragile in the opening games -albeit in conditions which have assisted bowlers to a ridiculous degree.
Monday sees the first game of the season for the third team as they entertain Rawtenstall
