A FINE third wicket partnership between opener Daniel Howley, 58, and Joe Hanson, 60, put Walsden thirds on the way to a 48 run victory over Royton at The Paddock on Sunday.
Howley hit ten boundaries in his knock while Hanson found the edge seven times. Gareth Connor, 18, weighed in with useful runs as Walsden posted 180 for 7 from their 40 overs.

Josh Barnes then took up the challenge with the ball as he claimed 5 for 24 from 8.2 overs, bowling the visitors out for 132.Connor chipped in with 2 for 30.

This game apart it was another week of inaction and disappointment for Walsden.

Their 20/20 semi-final at Unsworth was washed out for the third time on Friday night as were Saturday’s games against Werneth. On Sunday the second team crashed out of the Burton Cup semi-final when, despite a half century from Gilford, they managed to put only 160 on the board.

Littleborough then knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets.
