Borough finally got a home game in but it was not the result for which they had hoped.

While they may not have deserved the result, they did not play up to their potential.

They had plenty of chances and perhaps ought to have made more of them.

Too often crosses failed to find their men and when the best chance of the half fell to Oliver Wood, he could only hit the side netting.

Even so the teams went into the break scoreless with everything to play for in the second half.

But then it started to go wrong for Borough. First goalkeeper Jamie Shackleton was forced into an error from a corner and the ball fell to a Furness forward for a gift goal.

Then Borough went to sleep from a corner and allowed a free header to concede a second, again from a set piece.

After those two moments of sloppy play they fought back however with some nice football, but for all their pressure could not get the ball in the net.

The visitors soaked up everything that Borough threw at them, the best chance going to Stevie Barker in the final minutes, but he could not finish it.

On Saturday they have another home game and will be looking for a victory over bottom club Walney Island.
