A nervy start and a man short, but George keep going to end - a platform to build on

GEORGE started the game very nervily with two defensive errors gifting the home side a two-goal lead.

Jonny Sutcliffe playing lone striker linked well with Joe Connor to create a number of chances.

The first half was disappointing for both teams, but George came out strong in the second half and pressed the home side, until Kev Sutcliffe found the the net with a half-way line shot.

Jamie Donnellan made a string of fine saves to keep George in the game, earning him man of the match.

James Staroszczuk was controversially sent off, which made it tougher for the George.

Chris Ford and Gav Higgins were outstanding at the back, while Connor, Jonny Sutcliffe and Darrell Rhodes chased everything to the final whistle.

George will hope to build on this as they face the same opponents on Sunday at home and hopefully will have some key players back.
