Borough look to promise for the future

TODMORDEN Borough seconds started their league campaign with two defeats.

But there was promise for the future with a number of teenagers making their debuts.

There were good displays by youngster Jordan Mirza, who was outstanding in both games, Josh Highley and Ben Travis.

On Monday night they went down 3 - 1 at Whinney Hill.

Trailing 1 - 0 at half-time, youngster Jim Crowther equalised before the strong home side’s experience told at the end.

On Saturday they went down 6 - 2 at Burnley United.

Against very strong opponents they were 3 - 0 down early in the second half, but then pulled it back with goals from David Kay and Terry Lowe.

Once again the home side’s strength and experience saw them through at the end with three late goals.
