A 14-year-old Todmorden girl won a bronze medal as part of a team competing in the British Team Gymnastics Qualifiers in Edinburgh.

Lucy Williams was a member of the Diamonds Team Gym Juniors competing in floor, vault, trampette and tumble routines.

With a high score of 41.45 in the disciplines they gained the bronze medal. Their record floor score of 15.1 was the highest floor score in the northern competition and entitles them to compete at the British Finals in Gloucester in May.

The team will be training hard at Diamonds Gymnastics Club in Halifax where they train 12 hours a week, in the hope to repeat a medal position.

Lucy is a member of a team of nine. All the girls compete in all routines, and all nine get a joint score.

Lucy goes to Blessed Trinity RC College, Burnley. She has competed since she was six years old.
