FA and Prem give go-ahead to Clarets' Accy fundraiser - Nugent set to make debut

BURNLEY have been given the go-ahead to stage Tuesday night's fund-raising friendly against Accrington Stanley (match will be Tuesday, September 8).

The FA and Barclays Premier League have sanctioned the fixture at Turf Moor (kick-off 7.45pm) with all gate receipts going to Stanley's fighting fund.

The League Two side has been set an eight-week deadline to pay HM Revenue and Customs 308,000 or face going out of business.

Clarets boss Owen Coyle suggested playing the game to help Accrington meet their target and has pledged to name a strong Clarets line-up.

New loan signing David Nugent is set to play, along with a number of Burnley's other summer recruits, while the likes of Chris Eagles will also figure ahead of Saturday's trip to Liverpool.

Stanley will field their first team with manager John Coleman praising Burnley's response to Accrington's problems.

Coleman said: "It is a magnificent gesture from Owen Coyle and all at Burnley.

"Hopefully we'll raise a lot of money that will really kick off the fundraising with a bang, and it will certainly generate a lot of publicity.

"Burnley have got off to a great start with wins over Manchester United and Everton, and yet actions like this show that they still have their feet firmly on the ground and it is something that will be remembered by us all for many years to come."

Admission is pay on the gate with prices set at 10 for adults and 5 concessions.

The Bob Lord Stand and upper tier of the James Hargreaves Stand will be open to home supporters, while away supporters will be situated in the David Fishwick Stand.
