Cryer wins angling open match

Paul Cryer comfortably won last Sunday’s Todmorden Angling Society open match at Smithy Bridge.

His best catch of 15lb 9oz was well clear of the rest of the 16-strong field, with his nearest challenger Roger Priestley well behind with a best catch of 10lb 11oz.

Both the top two used a pole with fished bread punch as bait.

Derek Bowers and Bruce Clarke rounded off the top four positions with catches of 8lb 12oz and 6lb 9oz respectively
