CRICKET is in the blood in the Priestley family.
The latest member of family to make a mark in the game is 11-year-old Evie.
She follows brother Freddie (15) and dad Stuart, a former Todmorden Cricket Club captain, who is now using his experience to guide the club’s second team.
Evie, who is about to start at Todmorden High School, travelled to Kent to play for Lancashire in three matches.
She played her first game against Warwickshire and took two wickets for five runs, and scored five runs.
In her second match, she took five wickets for two runs off five overs and then made a match winning 25 not out, to steer her team to victory.
She then went on to make another 25 runs in the final match of the series.
Evie plays on Todmorden’s under-11 and under-13 teams.
Dad Stuart, who is a lifelong member of the club, said cricket was definitely in the blood and his youngest son, Noah, aged seven, is already showing signs of following in the family tradition.
Stuart’s wife is also closely involved and is the daughter of Brian Whittaker, another former Todmorden captain.
Freddie is beginning to make a name for himself at Todmorden and has already made appearances on the first team and had training sessions with Lancashire.
As for Evie, it is not just cricket as she also plays football for Burnley Girls under 12s.
