Fifty golfers brave the cold - card play-off decides it

Fifty players played on Saturday at Todmorden Golf Club on a cold and windy day in a “Mafia Scramble”.

The winning team was Paul Horsfall, Lee Dearden and Steve Smith on 56.2.

A card play-off was needed to decide the next positions,with Mike Hartley, Terry Makin and Alan Dickinson taking second place on 57.8.

Third were Neil Chrimes, Alan Troy and Mike Sparkes.

The latest round of the winter league saw the new Rabbit Captain Russell Waring, just pip Matthew Saxon to first place on 38 points.

Russell was also on the winning team, along with Michael Murray and Phil Ellis.
