Final round effort seals title win

POLISHED Knob are the new Todmorden Quiz League champions after hauling back a six point deficit in the final round of fixtures.

Cornholme WMC were leading going into the last, individual, round but Polished Knob turned the match around to take the title.

Meanwhile up at Hare and Hounds, Jack’s House began their match against PK’s title rivals Hare and Hounds B strongly but faded in the second half and Hounds B won comfortably. Had they not tied with their stablemates Hounds A recently, the title would have been theirs.

Weavers posted a decent score at home against Hounds A but it was not ehough to secure a victory. At Centre Vale, Royal George only had a two-man team but sportingly agreed to play and won the sport round, but the Cricketers won by a massive margin, a flattering score considering the visitors’ depleted team.

Bird@Queen finished the season strongly, beating Bridge End with the night’s second highest score. At Shannon there was nothing in it until the geography round where the home team failed to score against the visitors’ 10. There was no way back and Woodpecker won easily.

Results: Weavers 64, Hare and Hounds A 77; Todmorden CC 88, Royal George 35; Bridge End 53, Bird@Queen 80; Polished Knob 79, Cornholme WMC 76; Hare and Hounds B 79, Jacks House 62; Shannon 58, Woodpecker 73.
