Woodhouse United will be gunning for revenge when they travel to take on Asia in a Rochdale Sunday League Division One clash.

Rhys Gibson’s side were comprehensively beaten in a recent cup tie and he is looking for that result to act as a motivational tool for the forthcoming league encounter.

Woodhouse have struggled to field a consistent side this season and that has contributed to a slow start to the campaign.

However, Gibson is hopeful that a good run of results may change his side’s fortunes starting on Sunday.

“It is an issue with Sunday football in general that you can’t always field a settled side,” said Gibson.

“We have had problems with unavailabilities and players not bothering to turn up which has contributed to the start we have had.

“We can’t seem to string a few wins together which is holding us back. Having said that, the standard in this league is better than a lot of people think.

“Hopefully the lads will be motivated by the cup defeat when we play Asia. It could be the start of a good run.

“I knew it would be hard this season as we are in a tough league, but as long as we don’t get relegated I will be reasonably happy.

Woodhouse were without a game last weekend while Asia’s 4G pitch meant they were able to get their game against Cardinal Villa on where they enjoyed a 4-3 success.

“We decided to call the game off on Saturday night,” added Gibson.
