Jacks, Woodhouse back in action

JACKS House start their Rochdale Alliance season with a more streamlined operation on Saturday.

After a tough last campaign running teams in the top and bottom divisions of a three-section set-up, Jacks will have one side in the middle division in 2012-2013.

Club spokesman Chris Hall said the decision to run one team had happened for a variety of reasons, including the retirement of some players.

Central midfielder Gary Brierley is player manager of a side which starts with an away game against Fothergill and Whittles seconds.

Hall said: “We are mainly a team of young prospects. Hopefully we will gel as a side and put in some good, solid performances.

“We have a few new signings and it looks a team for the future if the players stick together.”

- WOODHOUSE United are still waiting for a taste of the action, their Rochdale Sunday League opener at home to Cardinal Villa last Sunday being postponed on Saturday night due to a waterlogged pitch.

New manager Mark Walters will be hoping there are no such problems for this weekend’s trip to Wardleworth.
