Todmorden Wanderers U7s 3

Crossley Colts U7s 1

Wanderers produced a fine team effort to pull clear in the second half of a close game.

Lennie Halstead pounced as the ball broke free and he thundered home a perfect shot from range.

Colts made it 1-1 before half time but Wanderers’ fine passing helped them get on top.

Aidan Rodgers, Isaac Waite and Alfie Senior worked hard and used the space well to work the ball forward.

Harvey Cartmill and Daniel Kelly got the all-important goals while ‘keeper Ruben Aldred courageously threw himself behind Colts’ strikes.

Calverley United U8s 1

Todmorden Athletic U8s 13

This was a tale of two goalkeepers, with Freddie Priestley and Bailey Sutton each playing a half between the sticks, but also managing four goals apiece.

Sutton gave the Calverley ‘keeper constant trouble before threading a ball through to strike partner Frank Cooper to score Todmorden’s first.

Cooper then beat the ‘keeper but Sutton pounced on the line to score his first.

Brett Hopley was having his best game of the season while there was solid tackling from midfielders Will Hammond and Jack Suthers, who scored the goal of the game from a tight angle to give Todmorden a 6-0 half-time lead.

Priestley bossed the second half and the pick of his four goals was an unstoppable right-footed shot.

Euan Logue was constantly involved. He scored from a trademark left-footed screamer and also crossed to give Frank Cooper his hat-trick.

The final goal came from another excellent Priestley effort, Logue making sure the ball was over the goal line.

HBS Tigers U16 4

Hade Edge U16 2

Tigers continued their good form in this mid-table battle.

Sam Thompson gave them the lead late in the first half after good work by Martin Howard.

However, Tigers’ defence didn’t wake up quickly enough after the break and Hade Edge shot into a 2-1 lead.

Tigers were dominating with Eli Cory-Wright outstanding in midfield and they got on terms through Adam Summerscales’ brave header from a Howard free kick.

Thompson put Tigers ahead again shortly after from a corner and an own goal, when the Hade Edge centre back volleyed past his own ‘keeper, sealed victory.
