A five-goal salvo from Benjamin Pearson helped Todmorden SC under 15s secure their first win in the East Lancashire Football Alliance, by 6-1 at home to Rossendale United.

The visitors scored first when a corner was poorly defended and the ball was headed home.

After several missed chances and goal-line scrambles Pearson’s well-taken goal made the score level at half-time.

Todmorden continued to play their passing football and added five more after the break – four from Pearson and one from the speedy Henry Antemes.

Although it took a while for Todmorden to settle, the performance was built on fine team play.

Thomas Stansfield was excellent in goal, protected by a solid defensive unit comprising Sam Foster, Alec Hodkinson, Jack Crummett and Lewis Porter.

Christopher Reeder was outstanding in midfield, ably supported by Josh Petersen, Jack Pearson, Aiden Stansfield and Callum Bailey.

After their shock opening-day defeat against Rishton United, when Todmorden only had 10 men, they appear to have settled back into their usual winning rhythm.
