Reserves revival goes on with fine team display

Wyre Villa 1 Todmorden Borough Reserves 2: THE revival continued for Todmorden Borough Reserves with a deserved win at Wyre Villa.

They started well, playing with the strong wind and were on top right from the start, but could not find the net.

Both Dave Thomas and Terry Lowe went close, but it was the home side who scored first, a forward latching on to an underhit back pass and pushing it past Elliot Gilford in the Borough goal.

Playing against the wind in the second half Borough fared better.

Chris Kay came on and was straight in the action heading on a Daniel Lively cross for Lowe to volley home the equaliser.

The visitors continued to press but it was eight minutes from the end before they got the winner.

Again it came from a Lively pass, which Thomas gathered and fired home giving the keeper no chance.

In a fine team performance the outstanding players were Lively and Borough’s other fullback young Matthew Ormerod.

Borough have the chance of a double when they meet the same opponents at home on Saturday.
