Young Clarets take on arch-rivals in semi

A MUCH better performance, but only a marginally better result, saw Burnley’s season fizzle out some more last Saturday.

Before the match the club - and Crystal Palace fans, impeccably - stood in silence following news that manager Eddie Howe’s mother had passed away and in those difficult personal circumstances the football didn’t seem as important as usual.

In the next couple of weeks there is a match that is definitely catching supporters’ attention - a two-legged FA Youth Cup semi-final against none other than arch-rovals Blackburn Rovers.

This week the club confirmed details for travelling fans for the first leg away at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday, March 22 (kick-off 7pm).

Burnley supporters have been allocated the WEC Darwen End of Ewood Park, starting with the lower tier, and prices are adults £5, senior citizens £3 and Juniors £1.

Tickets, which are only on sale to supporters with a Clarets number (ie season ticket holders, members and Foundation members) go on sale from midday today Thursday, March 15. Tickets are available via Ticketzone on 0871 221 1914, option 1), or in person at the ticket office.

However, note that all tickets must be collected in person from Turf Moor ticket office.

Tickets will only be available for purchase until 5pm on the evening of the game. No tickets will be on sale after that time and visiting supporters cannot pay on the turnstiles.

Ticket details for the return leg, which takes place at Turf Moor on Wednesday, March 28 (kick-off 7pm) will be announced soon.

The winners will play Manchester United or Chelsea in the final.

l Soccer Six is returning to Turf Moor this summer for the second year in a row.

The big day is Saturday, June 2, with a gala night staged at Turf Moor the previous evening.

The celebrity football tournament was an outstanding success last year when nearly 7,000 fans and 300 corporate guests watched teams of pop stars, actors and media celebrities compete for the title.
