Frost makes starring appearance as Winter League gets under way

THE seniors at Todmorden Golf Club completed their midweek competitions with Keith Lacy beating Michael Hartley in the singles knockout.

Michael joined forces with Terry Makin to claim the pairs knockout, beating Alison Barker and Julia White in the final.

The recent “bring a prize, win a prize” was very popular,with Michael scooping first place with 37 points. Peter Bailey came second on 35 with Janet Topham third on 34 points.

The nearest the pin prizes were won by K.Waring on the first, Alison on the seventh and Terry on the 16th holes.

The winter league started on Sunday with mild, sunny weather. However Frost did appear - David Frost - scoring four points on the last hole to claim the winners prize with an amazing 42 points. Second was Rabbit captain Russell Waring on 41 points.

These two players combined with Mick Sparkes to claim the team prize. There were three new players. Everyone is welcome, just turn up by 8am for the draw with the start being at 8.30 am. For details ring the club on 812986.

On Saturday a draw for partners competition took place with Andrew Lupton and Mark Pattison taking the honours with a net 62. Chris Redmond and Bill Simpson were second with a net 64.

Nearest the pin prizes went to the vice-captain, Gary Fisher on the fifth hole and Michael Murray on the 16th.
