George let four goal lead slip

Rochdale Sunday League Division Three

MUCH improved Royal George took a turn for the worse.

After an exciting first half they let a four-goal lead slip away and could only manage a draw.

With the scores level and 15 minutes to play they threw everything at their opponents but could not get the ball in the net.

It started badly as George conceded a goal in the first minute.

They rallied and centre half Jack Wilkinson opened their account with a header.

Jonny Sutcliffe got a second with another header before the outstanding Chris Kibble made it three from a free kick.

Connor Fowler added two more goals twice sliding in to steer it past the keeper.

Leading 5 - 1 after 40 minutes, George let in a goal just before the break and within a minute of the restart let in another before Oliver Challis made it 6 - 3 from a Kibble cross.

Then they gave away a penalty and let in another goal.

Stand-in goalkeeper Aysa Goldthorpe pulled off a brilliant save but could do little about a scrambled equaliser.

George pressed in the final minutes but could not recover their scoring touch.
