TODMORDEN boxer Pete Newbury has requested a British title fights in July after his latest successful bout.

He was fighting in a scheduled five rounds cruiserweight bout on Saturday against Steve Dobson at Barnsley Metro Dome under Dragon Foot Promotions.

He was bidding for the EBF Northern Area Title while currently holding the North East and North West titles.

The fight began with Newbury using a high guard countering within the first 30 seconds giving his opponent a broken nose.

He followed up with three right hand uppercuts causing the referee to step in and give a standing count of eight.

His opponent was then deemed unfit to continue after only one minute and 31 seconds of the bout, giving Newbury his third title.

He was was fighting under the new sponsorship of Baileys Gym and Powerhouse Fight Camp, Todmorden.
