IT was a tremendous holiday weekend for Todmorden’s two major cricket clubs.
The season finally got off to a full start after poor weather hit the last two weeks.
Walsden made it a weekend to remember with two wins, one away and one at Scott Street after games on Saturday and Sunday.
Todmorden also got their season under way on Sunday with a win at Centre Vale over Burnley by 85 runs and followed it up on Bank Holiday Monday with a crushing victory at Enfield.
In fact all of Todmorden’s three teams managed to win all of the their matches.
The third team started the good run of games with a win at East Lancs.
Captained for the first time by Gareth Rudderforth, they fielded a very young side, against a much older more experienced East Lancs outfit.
However, despite their lack of years they showed no lack of ability and won in comprehensive fashion.
Walsden got a five-point win at Ashton on Saturday and followed it up with a victory at home on Sunday over neightbours Littleborough.
Bridgeholme’s great start to the season though was ended in their home Towergate Halifax League Division Two game by Shelf, who won by five wickets.
