Gymnasts, coaches and parents raised more than £840 through a bag pack in Morrisons, Todmorden.

The money intended to buy new equipment for Border Gym Club was raised in just four hours.

The club, which has members from all parts of the Calder Valley, thanked the store and all those who gave money.

Border Gym Club started in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength since.

It meets at Ferney Lee School, Todmorden, on Saturdays 9am until 10.30am for the novices, then 10.30am to noon for the more advanced gymnasts.

Children have to be aged five to join.

The club is run by coaches, Paul Smith, Sam Tasker, Alison Smith, Jossy Knight and Anisah Bari.

Issac Knight and Maddy Green are soon due to be taking assistant coaching courses.

The bag pack was used to raise funds for a back flip trainer which supports gymnasts learning the correct shapes for a back flip, and also some much needed safety mats.

Some of the club’s older gymnasts have competed at various levels throughout Yorkshire.

Last year Alison Smith and Maddy Green competed in Geneva for Yorkshire, Maddy gaining a bronze and Alison coming in fourth in the international competition.
